Our Team Members
Dr. Martin G. Stotelmyer was born and raised in Indiana. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University in 1971. After his graduation, he practiced at Parkdale Animal Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana for three years. In August of 1974 he moved to Atlanta to become an Associate Veterinarian at Buckhead Animal Clinic. In 1984, he became co-owner of the practice with Dr. David A. Forehand. He has held leadership positions in the Greater Atlanta Veterinary Medical Society (GAVMS), the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association (GVMA), and the Animal Emergency Center, P.C. Currently, he is a GVMA member representative to the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine Admissions Committee. Dr. Stotelmyer has two adult children, Chris and Jennifer. He has two cats, Phoenix and Ernie, and two Jack Russell Terriers, Betsy and Bubba (mother and son).
Jennifer Stotelmyer grew up in Atlanta. After graduating from The Lovett School, she attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. In May 2002, she received her Masters in Public Health from Boston University. She joined the clinic as Practice Manager in February of 2004. She has two Scottish Fold mixes, Time and Honor.
Veterinarians
Dr. Amy P. Mathews grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee's Veterinary School in 1986. Dr. Mathews has been working with Buckhead Animal Clinic since 1989. Dr. Mathews and her husband live outside of Atlanta with Petunia, a Pit Bull Terrier rescued from Hurricane Katrina; Mr. B, a small mixed breed dog adopted from Atlanta Pet Rescue; a cat called Raisin; and an African Grey Parrot named Mac.
Dr. Aleisha A. Swartz was born in California, went to high school in Maryland, and has lived many places in between. She graduated from Georgia Tech before going on to the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. She first worked at Buckhead Animal Clinic as a Veterinary Technician in 1995. She joined our team of veterinarians in 2002. She and her husband have two Jack Russell Terriers called Tucker and Foxy, and 2 cats, Missy and Perry.
Dr. Sharon Nath is originally from western New York and moved to Atlanta in 1991. She, her husband, and 2 children have 2 dogs, Chaya and Lila, and a cat, Socrates, all perfectly spoiled. Following Dr. Nath's graduation in 2003 from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine with highest honors, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Georgia Veterinary Specialists (GVS). She started working with BAC during the summer of 2004. Dr. Nath keeps a part-time schedule.
Dr. Nina Anderson grew up in Michigan. Though she has lived in Georgia for several years, people still detect a Midwestern accent. Dr. Anderson graduated from Harvard College before continuing her education at the University of Michigan and Michigan State. She received her DVM from Michigan State University in 1998. Dr. Anderson has been and remains active in leadership with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). She became part of the BAC team in July of 2005. She lives in Decatur with her husband Mike, their dog Penelope, and two cats, Zooey and Francis.
Dr. Heather Markway was born in the Midwest within the great city of St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She continued her education as a small animal intern at Mississippi State University and relocated to Atlanta in July of 2007. She began working at BAC in August of 2007. Dr. Markway lives in Inman Park with Moxie, her Boxer.
Dr. Vrinda N. Nargund grew up in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She completed a 7-year joint undergraduate and veterinary medicine program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Tufts University. She also received her Masters degree in Public Health during vet school. Upon graduation in 2003, she moved to Atlanta to do a fellowship at the CDC in the Foodborne Diseases division. She has practiced veterinary medicine since 2004. She joined the BAC team in September 2007. Dr. Nargund and her husband live with Cecily, their adopted greyhound.
Dr. Mike Boling was born in Chicago and grew up all over the country. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987. He founded a software technology company in 1988 and grew it over the next several years, until he decided to follow his true passion - veterinary medicine. He first worked at Buckhead Animal Clinic in 2003 as a Veterinary Technician. He graduated from the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. He joined our team of veterinarians in May 2008. Dr. Boling’s special interest is feline medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). He and his partner Rob live in Atlanta with their eight cats – Sebastian, Max, Ellie (pictured), Inky, Christie, Maggie, Mr. Big, and Stanley.
